Meaning
Summary :       This deeply moving hymn is a prayer Lord krishna of Guruvayoor

The Sole Refuge: The devotee declares that the pair of the Lord's sacred lotus feet (adimalarina) is their only support and anchor (avalambam) in life. Recognizing their own spiritual ignorance, the devotee admits to not knowing what is truly good (guna) or bad (dosha) for them, and begs Krishna to guide them along the righteous, auspicious path (shubhamarggam).

Vision of the Divine: Addressing Krishna as the ultimate ocean of supreme mercy (parama dayambunidhe), the devotee prays for constant protection. They ask for a beautiful boon: that the enchanting, divine form of the Lord's holy body (thiruvudal) remain forever illuminated within their mind (chithe).

Conquering Fear: Fearing the painful entanglement of death, the devotee clasps their hands in reverence (kai thozhunnen), pleading that Yama, the god of death (anthakan), stay far away. They seek the eternal, daily grace of Govinda to transcend worldly fears.

The Ultimate Teacher: Addressing the deity as the Lord of the sacred town of Guruvayur (Guruvayoor puresha), the devotee beautifully proclaims, "You alone are my Guru (Teacher/Guide)." The hymn closes by repeating the soulful plea for Krishna to take the reins of their life and show them the right path.
