Summary :       The padam "Ajitā Harē Jaya Mādhavā Vishu" is from the Kathakali story Kuchelavritham (Sudama Charitam). In this scene, Kuchela (Sudama) finally reaches Dwaraka and expresses his longing to see Krishna. After many years of separation, when he finally stands at Krishna's doorstep, he is overwhelmed by devotion rather than concern for material help.

Shloka : The mood (bhava) is one of madhura bhakti and darshana-ananda—the joy experienced by a devotee while contemplating Krishna's divine beauty.

With peacock feathers adorning Your divine crown,

with a graceful body swaying in beauty,

with quivering lips and a charming little mouth,

and with a smile that shines like the full moon—

O Krishna, is not Your smile itself a full moon?

O beautiful Prince, O charming One,

who resides at Thiruperunthuruth...

Glory to You, O Ajitha (the unconquerable one), O Hari (the destroyer of sins), O Madhava, O Vishnu! Glory to the Lord of all gods, whom even Brahma (the goat-faced or unborn lord) and other deities worship.

വിജയ സാരഥേ സാധു - ദ്വിജനൊന്നു പറയുന്നു

സുജന സംഗമ മേറ്റം - സുകൃത നിവഗ സുലഭ മതനു നിയതം

Meaning: O charioteer of Vijaya (Arjuna)! This poor Dwijan (Brahmin/Kuchela) has one thing to say to you. Meeting and associating with noble souls (Sujana Sangama) is a great blessing; it is definitely the result of a vast abundance of good deeds (Sukrutham) gathered over lifetimes.

പലദിനമായി ഞാനും - ബലഭദ്രനുജാ നിന്നെ

നലമോടു കാണ്മതിന്നു - കളിയല്ലേ രുചിക്കുന്നു

Meaning: For many days now, O younger brother of Balabhadra (Balarama), my heart has intensely desired—and it is no joke—to see You in all Your goodness and well-being.

കാല വിഷമം കൊണ്ടു - കാമം സാധിച്ചതില്ലേ

നീല നീരദ വർണ്ണാ - മൃദുല കമല രുചിര നയന നൃഹരേ ....

Meaning: Because of the hardships of time (my extreme poverty and difficult circumstances), I was unable to fulfill this desire of mine until now. O Lord who has the color of dark rain clouds (Neela Neerada Varna), with eyes as beautiful and soft as a lotus flower, O lion among men (Nrihari)!

അദ്യാപി ഭവൽകൃപാ - വിദ്യോതമാനമാകും

പാദ്യാദി ഏൽപ്പതിന്നു - ഭാഗ്യ ഉണ്ടാക മൂലം

Meaning: Even today, by the shining light of Your immense grace (Bhava-krupa), I have been blessed with the immense fortune of offering and receiving the ritual water for washing Your feet (Padya) and other traditional hospitalities.

ചൈദ്യാരേ ! ജന്മ ഫലം - ഇദ്വിജനെന്തു വേണ്ടൂ

ഹൃദ്യം താവക വൃത്തം - മൊഴികിൽ ഉലയും ഉരഗപതിയു അധുനാ

Meaning: O Chaidyari (the enemy of Shishupala/the King of Chedi)! What other ultimate fruit of birth does this poor Brahmin need? Your heartwarming stories and divine plays (Thavaka Vritham) are so endlessly beautiful that if one tries to describe them fully, even the thousands-headed serpent king (Anantha/Adisesha) would stagger and grow weary trying to speak them.

മേദുര ഭക്തിയുള്ള - മാദൃശാം സുഖ മെന്യേ

വാദമില്ലഹോ ദുഃഖം - ബാധിക്കയില്ല നൂനം

Meaning: For people like me who possess deep, intense, and unwavering devotion (Medura Bhakti) towards You, there is nothing but pure spiritual happiness. There is no doubt about it—sorrows can never afflict or trouble them.

യാദവാധിപാ ! നിന്നെ - ഹൃദിചിന്താ നിദാ നേന

മോദം മേ വളരുന്നു - കരുണ വരണ അരുണ സഹജ കേതന !

Meaning: O Lord of the Yadavas! By constantly contemplating and keeping You fixed deep inside my heart, my inner joy (Modham) keeps growing boundlessly. O Lord who is an ocean of compassion, and whose flag bears Garuda (the brother of Aruna, the dawn)!
