Meaning
Summary :       This classical devotional kriti is composed in profound adoration of Goddess Annapoorna (Vishalakshi), the divine consort of Lord Vishwanatha presiding over the sacred holy city of Kashi (Varanasi) on the banks of the river Ganga. The verses celebrate the Goddess as the eternal witness of the cosmic order and the primordial Omkara, adorned with golden silks and jewel-encrusted ornaments while holding a ruby-set golden ladle filled with sacred payasam to nourish all creation. Honored by Lord Brahma, celestial sages like Narada and Tumburu, and the divine Guruguha, the hymn extols Her power to alleviate worldly distress, nurture all beings, and grant transcendental liberation (moksha).

Pallavi : O Mother Annapoorna, large-eyed Goddess Vishalakshi, who stands as the witness of the entire universe, please cast Your benevolent, compassionate glance upon me!

Anupallavi : O Mother Annapoorna, large-eyed Goddess Vishalakshi, eternal witness of all the worlds, protect me with Your compassionate gaze.

Charanam-1 : She who sports upon the elevated sacred riverbank of the holy Ganga, embodiment of the primordial sound Omkara, dispeller of all tribulations and distress; crowned queen of the Lord adorned with serpents, ancient Mother, radiating with the brilliant splendor of Parameshwara and Vishweshwara!

Charanam-2 : Holding in Your sacred hands a golden ladle (darvi) filled with sweet milk porridge (payasanna) and studded with gleaming rubies, exceptionally adept in protecting Kamadeva and all living beings, adorned with shimmering ornaments and silks made of pure gold!

Charanam-3 : Reverently worshipped by Lord Brahma (seated upon the lotus) and other celestials, praised and adored by divine bards like Tumburu and Narada, skillful in bestowing supreme liberation (moksha) beyond the three states of consciousness; O Mother deeply revered by Lord Guruguha, resplendent with the sacred threefold nature!
