Summary : This is a devotional hymn dedicated to the Ashta Nagas (the eight supreme serpent deities) and explicitly invokes the blessings of the deities at the legendary Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple in Kerala.
Pallavi : May the eight supreme serpent deities (Ashta Nagas) shower their divine grace upon me, so that all my times of hardship, misfortune, and adversity pass away cleanly.
Anupallavi : Singing the praises of your glorious, beloved mythologies and divine legends, I bow down before you daily with an abundance of pure joy and absolute devotion.
Charanam-1 : I bow down in reverence to the renowned King of Serpents, Vasuki, who beautifully adorns the neck of the Blue-Throated Lord Shiva (Neelakantha). I also bow before Lord Adisesha, upon whose infinite serpentine coils the Lord of Lakshmi (Padmaja Vallabhan / Vishnu) eternally reclines in cosmic sleep.
Charanam-2 : I praise and bow before Takshaka, the exceptionally majestic and noble leader among the serpent race (Chakshushravana — meaning those who hear through their eyes). I also clasp my hands in prayer before Karkotaka, begging him to grant me boons and liberate me from the painful afflictions of the Dark Age (Kali Yuga).
Charanam-3 : I meditate upon the great primal serpents Padma and Mahapadma, along with the guardian deity Gulikan who protects the inner soul. I bow before Shankhapala, the glorious son of Kadru, praying for motherly protection, well-being, and cosmic balance.
Charanam-4 : I offer my salutations to all the supreme serpent lords who guard and preserve the three worlds (Lokathrayam). I bow to the noble seraphs, praying that they cleanse all my life sins and specifically wipe away the heavy karmic afflictions born of Sarpa Dosha (sins related to harming serpents). Finally, I bow with total devotion to the supreme Nagaraja of Mannarasala and the holy Mannarasala Sarpa Yakshi Amma, who sit in divine glory protecting this entire manifest universe.
