Summary : This devotional hymn is an earnest adoration and prayer of surrender dedicated to Goddess Parvati / Durga (invoked as Girikanya, Balachandra Vibhooshini, and Narayani), venerated as the crescent-crowned sovereign mother of all moving and unmoving beings. Drawing upon ancient Shakta lore, the verses praise Her moon-like countenance, blue-lotus eyes, ruby-red lips, and trident-bearing hands, portraying Her as the divine sister of Lord Vishnu (Janarddana). The hymn explicitly invokes Her sacred presence as the presiding deity residing at the ancient Shakti realm of Kanyakubja (the historic Kanyakubja / Kannauj region, famed in Puranic lore as a sacred seat of the Goddess). The composition forms a heartfelt prayer imploring the Divine Mother to dispel the fears of Her surrendered devotees and grant swift maternal protection.
Shlokam : Salutations unto You, O Divine Mother Narayani, who is the auspiciousness in all that is auspicious, the auspicious consort of Lord Shiva, the fulfiller of all spiritual and worldly aspirations, the ultimate refuge of all beings, three-eyed Mother Gauri!
Pallavi : O daughter of the sacred mountain (Girikanye / Parvati), adorned with the radiant crescent moon upon Your crest (Balachandra vibhooshini), please protect and nurture me swiftly!
Anupallavi : O Mother whose large, tremulous eyes are lovely and elongated like the petals of a blue water lily (Neela neeraja dalayatha), You who enchant and captivate the hearts of all the worlds with divine love!
Charanam-1 : O Goddess whose countenance is luminous and serene like the orb of the full moon (Indubimba samaanane), whose lips are beauteous like glowing rubies and red Kuruvinda gems; You whose tender, sprout-like lotus feet are reverently worshipped by foremost celestials led by Lord Brahma (Aravindabhava)!
Charanam-2 : O Divine Mother who gathers the cool nectarine moonbeams of the young crescent moon, who protects and sustains all moving and unmoving beings of creation; resplendent with the supreme trident (varashoola) shining in Your pristine hands, adorned with dense, flowing tresses that outshine the deep dark midnight!
Charanam-3 : O Goddess residing in the sacred holy realm of Kanyakubja (Kannauj), the dispeller of all fear and affliction of surrendered souls; O pure and stainless Divine Mother who is the revered sister of Lord Janarddana—He who reclines upon the king of serpents (Adisesha) and mounts the celestial eagle Suparna (Garuda)!
