Meaning
Summary :       The Deity is Goddess Bhadrakali (Thirumanthamkunnilamma) of the Sri Thirumanthamkunnu Temple, Angadippuram (Malappuram district, Kerala). This devotional hymn is a solemn prayer of surrender and supplication dedicated to Goddess Parvati / Bhagavathy (invoked as Shivaa, Lokamatha, Mahamaya, and Parameshwari) residing at the sacred hill shrine of Mandhathrushailam (the historic Mandhathru Hill / Madhuravanam Devi Temple tradition). Addressing the Mother as the sovereign protectress worshipped eternally by the Trimurtis—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva—alongside Indra and the celestial hosts, the verses express the soul's yearning to sever mortal attachments through divine compassion alone. The devotee begs for unconditional forgiveness of past unmindful misdeeds and earnestly pleads for the Goddess to cast Her sin-destroying, nectar-like glance without delay to grant eternal spiritual refuge.

Pallavi : To sever and cast away the binding attachments and fetters of worldly illusion (Maya), what other refuge or destiny is there in this earthly realm except Your boundless grace and compassion, O auspicious Mother Shive!

Anupallavi : O Supreme Mother of the cosmos, whose divine abode is upon the sacred Mandhathru mountain (Mandhathrushaila nilaye), I bow down and prostrate before Your holy twin lotus feet!

Charanam-1 : Lord Brahma born of the lotus (Ambhojasambhava), Lord Shiva (Shambhu), Lord Vishnu (Mukunda), and Indra (Jambhari) leading the entire multitude of celestials, ever abide in supreme splendor and perpetual bliss by rendering eternal service at Your sacred lotus feet; O Mother of divine illusion (Maya), Mother of all worlds, possessor of an enchantingly captivating form, bestow Your mercy so that this nectar-like form which purges all sins and impurities may ever be contemplated in my thoughts!

Charanam-2 : Forgiving without delay or hesitation all the manifold transgressions, wrongs, and sins committed unthinkingly; to bestow the compassion-filled nectar of Your lotus-like merciful glance upon me for a single moment, let there be no delay in this realm, O Parameshwari, divine sister of Lord Vishnu (the father of Kamadeva); O purest refuge, unfathomable goal, full of compassion, O worthy one!
