Summary : This devotional hymn is an earnest adoration dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi (invoked as Jagadambika, Chandamunda Nishoodhini, Mahishantaka, Sharada, Bhuvaneshwari, Parameshwari, and Katyayani). Extolling the Mother as the fierce yet benevolent protectress seated upon her lion mount and served by the directional deities, the verses portray her as the destroyer of evil and the ultimate solace from hellish suffering and mental turmoil. The hymn specifically venerates her sacred presence across three prominent temple abodes in Kerala: the Valiyakulangara Devi Temple, the Chettikulangara Sree Bhagavathy Temple, and the Ramapuram Devi Temple. Pleading for eternal shelter, the composition forms a prayer of heartfelt surrender at her divine lotus feet to remove every affliction of mortal life.
Pallavi : O slayer of the demons Chanda and Munda, Mother of the universe revered by all celestials! Daughter of the mountain (associated with Chandrashekhara), adorned with the crescent moon, salutations unto You!
Anupallavi : Bestower of cherished boons across all eight directions, served reverently by the eight directional guardians (Ashtadikkpalakas); destroyer of the wicked, nurturer of the righteous, radiant embodiment of supreme brilliance!
Charanam-1 : A holy vision (darshan) of Your divine form is easily sufficient to bring an end to all agonizing hellish torments; resplendent in valor and fierce majesty, riding atop the lion (king of beasts), protect me!
Charanam-2 : O Supreme Empress (Eeshwareshwari), Sharada, Bhuvaneshwari, Parameshwari; please bestow eternal shelter and refuge, O Mother and Sovereign ruler of all existence!
Charanam-3 : O supreme illusion (Mahamaya), vanquisher of the demon Mahishasura, dispeller of deep mental anguish and torment; I fold my hands in devotion and bow before Your sacred lotus feet residing at Valiyavulangara, Chettikulangara, and Ramapuram, O Goddess Katyayani, O Maya!
