Meaning
Summary :     This fierce devotional hymn is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali (invoked as Ambika and Ghoraroopini) presiding over the sacred Valiyakulangara Devi Temple (Karthikappally, Alappuzha). The song praises the Mother as the cosmic destroyer of all disease, avert-er of untimely death, and the slayer of the demon Darika. The verses depict her awe-inspiring iconography—her coal-black flowing hair, ember-blazing eyes, razor-sharp fangs, iron-hard form, skull necklace, girdle of severed arms, and her mount Vetala. It concludes as a humble supplication seeking divine grace and prostrating before the supreme protector residing at Valiyakulangara Devi Temple.

Shlokam : O Goddess who pacifies and cures all illnesses, the warder-off and averter of all untimely death, the living personification and essence of all sacred mantras; O Sri Bhadrakali, salutations and prostrations unto You.

Pallavi : O Mother Ambika of terrifying and awe-inspiring form, who severed the head of the demon Darika! I fold my hands in devotion and bow before the dense, flowing curls of Your sacred hair that resemble pitch darkness.

Charanam-1 : I bow before Your piercing, fierce eyes blazing like burning embers, and revere Your razor-sharp fangs, O formidable and awe-inspiring Mother, O Devi.

Charanam-2 : With heartfelt devotion, I bow down before Your divine body that possesses the unyielding firmness of tempered black iron, and prostrate before the smallpox marks (vasoori) and Your bosom towering majestic like Mount Meru.

Charanam-3 : Gazing upon the necklace of severed skulls and the girdle of severed arms tied at Your waist, may Your grace grant me the humility to bow low before Your divine presence and the resounding anklets adorning Your holy feet, O Mother Devi.

Charanam-4 : O fierce and terrifying divine manifestation, You who dwell upon the neck of the Vetala! O Goddess Bhadrakali who resides and reigns at Valiyakulangara, I offer my humble salutations unto You.
