Summary :       This devotional hymn is dedicated to Goddess Durga, venerated as the auspicious Mother Kathyayani (Karthiyayini) and Maheshwari, residing at the sacred Cheranalloor shrine (Cheranalloor Sree Karthiyayani Bhagavathy Temple). Charanam-1 : Please protect this afflicted soul for a moment and, through Your boundless compassion, grant this humble servant a boon so that the immense ridicule and scorn borne from others may be removed far away.

Charanam-2 : Beset arbitrarily by various afflictions and illnesses, alas, I have lost all sense of honor and dishonor; O Mother of the earth, come without fail, lift me ashore from this vast ocean of miseries, protect me with tender care, and grant me Your divine support.

Charanam-3 : Listening attentively to all worldly speech, please forgive without delay the offenses and faults I have committed; I sincerely bow before You, the lotus-eyed Goddess, praying that out of Your joyous delight You perpetually grant me a noble spiritual destiny right now.

Charanam-4 : Witnessing the turmoil, chaos, and distractions of this mundane world, a profound weariness overcomes this servant; without wasting precious time, to unite my soul with Your sacred feet, You must become the guiding celestial rhythm (shruti) for that ultimate ascent, and to fill my heart with divine bliss, I bow at Your lotus feet.

Charanam-5 : When the emissaries of death arrive close by under the command of Yama to bind and claim me, Your sacred presence must arrive to sever those worldly bonds, O supreme Goddess Maheshwari who battles the messengers of death, saving me from being cast into the realm of Yama while dispelling all my misguided thoughts.
