Summary : This devotional song is a humble prayer addressed to Lord Krishna (as Lord Vishnu, the one who rides Garuda), pleading for His guidance, protection, and spiritual refuge. It glorifies Him as the beloved youth of Gokula and a noble disciple of Sage Sandipani. The lyrics recount His divine intervention as the savior of Parshati (Draupadi) by miraculously providing garments when villains tried to disrobe her, as well as His mercy in granting liberation (Suraloka) to Ajamila merely for uttering His holy name. Expressing deep devotion, the song entreats Lord Krishna—a universal deity who is not linked to any specific temple in this text—to destroy all afflictions and grant shelter at His lotus feet.
Pallavi : This opening line calls upon Lord Vishnu (or Krishna), who rides upon the divine eagle Garuda (Garuda Gamana), as the Supreme Ruler of the Universe (Jagadheeshwara) and husband of Goddess Lakshmi (Shreekaantha). The devotee prays to him for protection and to grant ultimate salvation (gathi).
Anupallavi : This verse celebrates Krishna as the prime disciple of Sage Sandipani (Guru Saandeepani Shishyavara) and as the beloved friend and companion to the youth and cowherds of Gokulam (Gokula Baalaka Vrunda Sakhe).
Charanam 1 : Here, the song recalls the famous episode from the Mahabharata where evil men attempted to disrobe Panchali/Draupadi (Paarshathi). When she cried out in distress, Krishna came to her rescue as the destroyer of suffering (Aartthi Haran) by endlessly supplying new garments to protect her dignity.
Charanam 2 : This final verse references the story of Ajamila, who received liberation and heavenly bliss (Sura Loka Sukham) simply by uttering the Lord’s sacred name at his moment of death. The devotee praises Krishna as the remover of all sorrow and mental distress, offering total surrender at his lotus-like feet (Chentaar Padayugalam).
