Meaning
Summary :      Composed by the legendary poet Poonthanam Namboodiri, Ghanasangham (also known as Ambasthavam) is a traditional Keshadipada Stuthi that describes the Mother Goddess systematically from hair to feet. The hymn vividly depicts her dual nature: an immensely fierce warrior deity adorned with serpents, blood, and a skull-garland who destroys evil, alongside a compassionate protector who showers bountiful blessings upon her devotees. The Deity is Goddess Bhadrakali (Thirumanthamkunnilamma) of the Sri Thirumanthamkunnu Temple, Angadippuram (Malappuram district, Kerala)

Charanam-1 : I bow to your body's radiance that rivals dense dark clouds, your twisted matted hair adorned with the crescent moon, your forehead, and your three fierce eyes ablaze with fire that destroys evil demons.

Charanam-2: I bow to your pair of beautifully arched eyebrows, your exquisite nose that outshines the sesame blossom, and your subtle, merciful side-glances continuously cast upon your devotees.

Charanam-3: I bow to your lips that surpass the red ivy gourd, your lovely tongue, your smile brighter than moonlight, and your teeth that outshine tender jasmine buds.

Charanam-4: I bow to your fierce roar of "hum" that reverberates like thunder to submit enemies at your feet, your sharp fangs gleaming like lightning, and your earrings fashioned from serpents.

Charanam-5: I bow to your mirror-smooth cheeks, your face surpassing the full moon, and your captivating neck and throat ornaments shaped like a refined conch shell.

Charanam-6: I bow to your body draped in a garland of slain demons' skulls as an upper garment dripping with blood, and your eight hands holding a snake, sword, bowl, trident, shield, severed head, and skull-topped staff (khatvanga).

Charanam-7: I bow to the beautiful jewel necklace adorning your glowing chest that lights up the world, and your breasts smeared with sandalwood paste and snakes, rivaling the grand Sandalwood Mountain (Malaya Mountain).

Charanam-8: I bow to your waist draped in rich red silk, your abdomen glowing with compassion that balances the three worlds, and the serpent worn around your waist making its lingering hiss.

Charanam-9: I bow to your glorious thighs—smoother than young trunk-like contours or plantain stems—and your knees shaped like jewel boxes packed with blessings for those who seek refuge in you.

Charanam-10: I bow to your beautifully rounded calves, shapely like the quiver of Kamadeva or screwpine blossoms, and your sacred pair of lotus feet illuminated by the jeweled crowns of bowing gods.

Charanam-11: I bow to all the ornaments decorating your divine form—bangles, armlets, waist-chains, and anklets—worshiping you daily without pause from head to foot (Keshadipadam).

Charanam-12: I bow to your world-shaking divine dance, the resounding chime of anklets worn during oracle rituals (Komaram), and I bow to you, Mother of Thirumanthamkunnu, protector of all creation!
