Meaning
Summary :    This devotional song is dedicated to Lord Murugan (also known as Subrahmanya or Karthikeya), the six-faced god of war and victory in Hinduism, particularly revered at the Palani temple.

Pallavi : The devotee addresses the Lord as the son of Goddess Parvati (Girijasutha) and the brother of the elephant-faced Lord Ganesha (Gajamukha sahaja). The devotee bows down completely from head to toe, seeking the Lord's permission and blessings to sing His divine glories and to be granted the wisdom that permeates all moving and non-moving things in the universe.

Charanam-1 : The devotee refers to the Lord as the six-faced one (Mukhamaarudayavan - Lord Shanmukha). The singer describes crossing thousands of steps (symbolic of a pilgrimage, like climbing a temple hill) to approach and surrender at the Lord's feet. The devotee pleads with the Supreme Lord not to waste precious time and to swiftly grant salvation and refuge to His humble servant.

Charanam-2 : The devotee praises the Lord as the son of Lord Shiva (Parameshaathmaja) and hails victory to the Supreme Lord, seeking absolute surrender at His holy feet. The Lord is specifically addressed as the deity of Palani (Pazhanisha), who destroys the sorrows of the people. Finally, He is lovingly called the brother of Lord Ayyappa (Harihara sutha sodhara — Ayyappa is the son of Hari/Vishnu and Hara/Shiva), as the devotee repeatedly chants their complete surrender (Saranam Saranam).
