Meaning
Summary :         This is a hymn dedicated to the Divine Mother, Goddess Parvati / Shankari, praising her grace and asking for her protection from worldly suffering.

Pallavi : The singer calls out to Goddess Shankari, addressing her as Manjulate (the lovely, charming one) and the beloved of Lord Shiva (Induchooda—the one adorned with the crescent moon). The devotee says, "Here I am, bowing down at your holy feet."

Anupallavi : The singer praises her beautiful divine form (Sundarangi) and states that she completely destroys all the miseries, anxieties, and burning sorrows (thaapam) of the devotees who sincerely serve and pray to her.

Charanam 1 : Addressing her as the universally revered one (Vandhithe), the singer prays for mental peace. The verse describes her radiating divine, golden beauty that mimics the soothing moonlight. The devotee seeks her worship to remove the mental anxieties and illusions of worldly existence.

Charanam 2 : This verse describes how the heavenly gods (Vaanavar) and groups of holy sages (Muni varggam) bow down at her feet when they are in distress. She is addressed as the beloved companion of Lord Shiva—the one who holds the deer (maan) and the battle-axe (mazhu). The devotee begs her to dry up their vast ocean of sorrows (sankada-ambuddhi).

Charanam 3 : In this concluding prayer, the devotee asks the Goddess to purify their mind. They pray: "Please completely remove the inner darkness and ignorance (maanasaandhyam) from my mind so that I may always speak words of truth, devotion, and righteousness."
