Summary : This devotional hymn is an integrated prayer celebrating Lord Vishnu (Narayana), Goddess Saraswati, and Lord Shiva. The song begins by extolling the divine names, heroic exploits, and supreme grace of Lord Narayana—the slayer of demons Madhu, Mura, and Naraka—earnestly beseeching Him to wipe away all tribulations and sorrow. It then turns in devotion to Goddess Saraswati, venerating Her as the presiding deity of music, sacred learning, and cosmic power. Culminating in an integrated Hari-Hara benedictory surrender, the verses invoke the divine presence flourishing at the sacred Vallabhanoor shrine (Vallabhanoor Sree Temple), seeking fearlessness, boons, and ultimate spiritual liberation.
Stanza-1 : Glory to Narayana! Glory to Purushottama (the Supreme Being)! Glory to Govinda, glory to the Lord of victory, the all-pervading Sovereign! Glory to Damodara, glory to the beloved slayer of the demon Madhu! Glory to Shauri (scion of Shurasena), glory to the sovereign Lord of Mathura, glory unto You!
Stanza-2 : O Nara-Narayana, destroyer of the demons Naraka and Mura! O divine manifestation of Narasimha (Narahari), eradicate all my tribulations and miseries! O beloved of devotees, lotus-eyed Lord, embodiment of supreme transcendental bliss, sovereign Lord of the celestials, glory unto You!
Stanza-3 : I take refuge in You, the divine bumblebee hovering over the blossoming lotus of music! I take refuge in the charioteer who steers the divine chariot of learning and sacred knowledge (Saraswatha)! I take refuge in You, the supreme Empress of all existence and the dispeller of ignorance! I take refuge in Goddess Saraswati, the sovereign ruler of all arts and wisdom!
Stanza-4 : I take refuge in the supreme Lord who bears the sacred gestures of bestowing boons (varada) and granting fearlessness (abhaya); I take refuge in the divine presence that flourishes gracefully in the sacred abode of Vallabhanoor; salutations and refuge unto Lord Hari Narayana, and eternal refuge in Hara Hara Shiva Shiva!
