Meaning
Summary :       This is a traditional hymn dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

Pallavi: The Iconography of Shiva - Praise to the Lord who holds a crescent moon (Ambili) nestled within his dense, forest-like matted hair (Kaadidayum Jada), where the holy river Ganges surges with lofty, nectar-like waves (Thunga Tharanga). He is adorned with hissing serpents, smeared with funeral ashes (Chudala Chaaram), and bears three fiercely burning eyes.

Charanam 1: The Cosmic Lord
The Sun, Moon, and Fire (Chandra Divaakara Bhaavakan) manifest as His cosmic eyes. Salutations to Lord Shankara, whose throat is dark and stained (Shree Kandam) from consuming the terrifying, fierce poison to save creation, establishing a brilliantly stark, beautiful visage.

Charanam 2: The Resplendent Face
His holy countenance (Shree Mukham) pours forth a nectar of sweet mantras and divine music, glowing like soothing moonlight. Yet, this very face of Shiva also radiates the blinding brilliance of ten million suns (Kodi Soorya) when He acts as Anthaka Khandaka (the destroyer of Death itself).

Charanam 3: The Armed Destroyer
His divine chest is decorated with a garland featuring the skull-gems (Kapaala) of wicked, mighty demons. In His powerful hands, He brandishes a glorious trident (Shoolam), a bow (Chaapam), and the roaring Damaru drum that vibrates with the primordial cosmic sound (Dakka Dakka).

Charanam 4: The Divine Form
Clad in a magnificent tiger/deer skin garment (Ajinathu Kool), the rhythmic walking posture of His divine form is an enchanting sight. His sacred pair of feet (Padayugalam) is compassionately worshipped by assemblies of Gods (Devas), demons (Asuras), and celestial musicians (Gandharvas).

Charanam 5: Prayer for Compassion
"Oh lover of devotees! Oh cosmic dancer who performs the fierce Thandava! Shower Your mercy immediately upon this humble servant (Adiyan). Oh Goddess Parvati, who performs the elegant Lasya dance and delights the heart of Shiva, grant me your divine boons!"

Charanam 6: The Slayer of Ego
Glory to the Lord who destroyed the three flying cities (Thripuraanthaka), the lover of cosmic dance, and the master of destruction. He is the vanquisher of Yama (Death), the destroyer of Kamadeva (Desire), the annihilator of Daksha's arrogance, and the eternal consort of Goddess Gauri.

Climax Chant: Surrender to Shiva and Gauri - A final, blissful cry of total surrender to Lord Shiva, specifically addressing Him as the resident deity of Monappilly (Monappillil Bhagavaane), near Ernakulam. The hymn finishes by turning to Goddess Gauri, who resides eternally inside the heart of Lord Shankara, praying to the beautiful cosmic queen to protect and safeguard the seeker (Paalayamaam).
