Meaning
Summary :         This hymn is deep devotional prayer primarily dedicated to Lord Krishna as Aranmula Parthasarathy, the divine chariot-driver of Arjuna. It glorifies His enchanting beauty, His mastery over Arjuna's chariot, and the grand Makarolsavam festival of the temple. Seamlessly blending traditions, the song also includes a verse praising the Goddess as Mahisha Mardini, with both deities worshiped together as the ultimate refuge from worldly suffering.

Pallavi : Oh Kannaa (Krishna), I long to gaze upon Your eyes heavy with mercy, Your soft and beautiful countenance, and Your chest where all the scenic beauty of the seasons seems to rest gently like blooming flowers.

Anupallavi : May the radiant splendor of Your body adorned with sandalwood paste (Harichandana) and golden silk robes (Peethambara) remain evergreen in the heart of this humble servant. I surrender to You, my ultimate refuge, Oh Lord who dwells in sacred Aranmula and who destroyed the demon Narakasura.

Charanam-1 : Devotees seeking absolute refuge gather inside the holy sanctum of Aranmula to bow before Your wish-fulfilling form holding the divine flute (Muraleedhara).

Charanam-2 : (Note: This verse praises the Goddess) Victory to the slayer of Mahishasura, the bringer of auspiciousness! For all those who praise Your glory on earth, You destroy the heavy miseries of this worldly life. You are the pure-faced, beautiful Goddess residing on earth with a majestic elephant-like gait.

Charanam-3 : Oh Lord who controlled the speed of Arjuna's (Vijayan's) chariot horses just as easily as You calmed his mind! May Your lotus feet forever protect and guide me. I seek refuge in You, the Lord of Aranmula.

Charanam-4 : During the auspicious festival days of Makarolsavam, when the mist settles softly, my Lord arrives riding in majesty with His eagle-crested flag (Garudadhwaja).

Charanam-5 : On this sacred occasion, it is as if the beloved Pandavas and their mother Kunti (Pritha) approach Your presence. Oh Shauri (Krishna), please bless me with the ultimate good fortune of witnessing Your divine form.
