Summary : This song is a devotional hymn that beautifully fuses the praises of Goddess Saraswati (the goddess of wisdom and speech) and Goddess Mookambika (the supreme mother deity of Kollur Shri Mookambika Devi), reflecting the unique concept of Mookambika as the embodiment of both Saraswati and the warrior goddess Parvati/Durga.
Slokam : The invocation begins with a universal prayer to the Lord of the Universe (Jagannatha), the protector of those who seek refuge, and to Ganesha (Gananatha). It then beautifully transitions into a prayer to Goddess Saraswati (Vaani), describing her with deep blue, beautiful hair, holding her musical Veena. The poet addresses her as the beloved of Brahma (Virinja Priye), ruling over the three worlds. The lines pray that she remove all flaws of speech and intellect (Vaani dosham) by residing gracefully upon the devotee's tongue, culminating in absolute surrender at the feet of Goddess Mookambika.
Pallavi : Oh Mother, Goddess Mookambika, please bestow your divine mercy and compassion upon me! You are the supreme goddess who fulfills all desires, goals, and spiritual pursuits (Sarvaartha Saadhike).
Anupallavi : You are the daughter of the great mountain king (Girivara Thanaye) and the compassionate mother whose dark, dense hair resembles rain clouds (Karimukhal Thaaye). You are the consort of Lord Shiva (Shankaran Jaaye), revered and worshipped eternally by celestial gods (Suras) and holy sages (Munis).
Charanam-1 : The verse praises the Goddess as a radiant, lotus-eyed deity who resides in the peaceful forest shrine. The devotee honors her as the ultimate protector who destroys all human miseries, brings supreme joy, and tenderly cares for the humble and righteous.
Charanam-2 : Oh Mother! You give pure joy and bliss to both our earthly life and the afterlife (Ihapara Modini). You are the fierce warrior who destroyed the demon Mahishasura (Mahisha Vinaashini). You are exquisitely adorned in sacred garments and splendid royal ornaments (Vasthralankaara Bhooshani), radiating cosmic beauty.
