Summary : This devotional hymn is dedicated to Lord Shiva (invoked as Sri Neelakantha, Shambho, and Jagannayaka) presiding over the sacred Pallavoor Temple (Pallavoor Sree Mahadeva / Thrippallavoor Temple in Palakkad, Kerala). Extolling the Lord as the three-eyed cosmic sovereign whose eyes are the sun and the moon, the song recounts His mythological acts of benevolence, including delivering the boy-sage Markandeya from distress and guarding the gates of devotee Banasura. The devotee seeks a tiny drop of divine grace to eradicate worldly suffering, ward off poverty, bestow immense joy, and protect the soul against the primal fear of death.
Pallavi : Please bestow a tiny drop of Your compassion, O Sri Neelakantha; Your lotus feet alone are our ultimate refuge, O Sri Neelakantha.
Anupallavi : O ocean of benevolence, in order that Your divine grace may descend upon us, we perpetually meditate on and remember Your refuge-granting lotus feet.
Charanam-1 : Was it not You, O three-eyed Lord, who in ancient times removed the mental anguish of the boy Markandeya? In that very manner, You must dispel my anguish and drive away my sorrow; O Shambho, whose eyes are the sun and the moon, O Lord presiding over and dwelling gracefully in Pallavoor!
Charanam-2 : Please protect and shield me so that poverty does not reach or consume me; bestow boundless joy and keep me safe; deliver and rescue me from the mortal fear of death; O Lord of the universe who once stood guard at the gateway of Banasura!
