Summary : This classical devotional hymn is dedicated to Lord Sri Rama (addressed as Kosalendra and the jewel of the Solar Dynasty), extolling His supreme qualities, divine coronation majesty, and heroic deeds. The song portrays Lord Rama seated upon the dazzling gem-inlaid throne alongside Mother Janaki, wielding His holy bow and arrows to wipe away every tribulation of surrendered devotees. It recounts the sacred epic legends of the Ramayana, including the redemption and deliverance of Sage Gautama’s wife Ahalya by the touch of His holy feet, the vanquishing of the demon forces in Lanka, and the loyal worship offered by the Vanara chiefs and Lord Hanuman. The hymn forms an earnest prayer of total surrender, beseeching the ocean of limitless virtues for constant grace and protection, with no specific earthly temple named in the verses.
Pallavi : O Lord of Kosala (Lord Rama), eternal abode of boundless divine virtues, O Supreme Lord, please protect and deliver me!
Anupallavi : You who shine resplendently, seated majestically upon the celestial throne within the brilliantly luminous, gem-studded grand council pavilion.
Charanam-1 : Bearing the sacred bow and arrows in Your mighty arms, You dispel and eradicate every sorrow and affliction of Your surrendered devotees; vanquishing the fierce pride and arrogance of demonic foes on the battlefield, You are adorned with a sublime, incomparable crown and exquisite armlets.
Charanam-2 : With Mother Janaki (Sita) gracefully gracing Your side, You brought fiery destruction upon Lanka and its demon ruler; shining like the auspicious full moon rising out of the ocean of the Solar dynasty (Suryavamsha), the sacred touch of Your lotus feet relieved the young hermit maiden (Ahalya) of her curse and sorrow.
Charanam-3 : Sovereign Lord whose handsome form possesses the deep dark hue of fresh rainclouds, You are the revered master worshipped by Nila, Nala, and the son of Aruna (Sugriva/Angada); You are extolled by sages and celestial beings with youthful eyes, and Your enchanting, sacred life exploits are lovingly celebrated and narrated by Pavanasuta (Lord Hanuman).
