Summary : This prayer is an adoring hymn to Lord Ganesha (Vighneshvara), praising his radiant, elephant-faced form adorned with a moon-like glow, seated on a lotus while holding his sacred attributes. As the beloved son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, he is invoked as the compassionate remover of obstacles who helps devotees cross the turbulent ocean of worldly suffering. The hymn highlights his playful love for sweet modakas, his joy-spreading nature, and his grace toward those who seek refuge at his lotus feet day and night.
Slokam : "I bow to Lord Vighneshvara (the remover of obstacles), who has an elephant face and a complexion as radiant as the moon. He who holds a rope/noose (paasha), an elephant goad (ankusha), and a sweet modaka in His hands, who sits upon a lotus flower, and who is ever cheerful and pleasant."
Pallavi : "Oh Lord with lotus-like eyes (Kuvalayanayana) and an elephant face (Karivadana)! Oh son of Shiva who destroys the fears of worldly existence (Bhavabhaya harana)..."
Anupallavi : "...To cross to the other shore of the vast ocean of worldly sorrows (bhava dukhaabdhi), I bow to your holy and sacred feet."
Charanam 1 : "Oh Lord who loves modakas and spreads joy! Oh beautiful son of Shiva and Parvati (Shailaja), worshipped by the wise who know the Vedas! Kindly protect those who constantly adore and serve Your divine feet with Your infinite mercy."
Charanam 2 : "May your compassionate, moon-like face shine brightly like the gentle red glow of dawn (arunaarunam). Having sought refuge at your lotus feet, I feel ultimate joy in remembering you day and night!"
