Meaning
Summary :      This devotional composition is an evocative, rhythm-driven hymn of surrender invoking Lord Shiva in his iconic crescent-adorned (Chandrashekhara) form. Set in the Sopanam temple music tradition, the devotee visualizes the vibrant cosmic dance, serpent adornments, and compassionate attributes of Mahadeva, pleading for inner distress to be dissolved through divine presence. The closing dedication specifically offers salutations to the presiding deity Lord Shiva addressed as Chandrashekharapurathappan, invoking the sacred presence of the Sree Chandrasekharapuram Siva Kshethram (Muppathadam, near Eloor/Aluva) on the banks of the Periyar.

Pallavi : A vivid description of the Lord's cosmic dance, portraying his holy feet adorned with serpent ornaments moving in rhythmic, vibrant steps, alongside his sacred chest smeared with holy ash, draped in deer skin, and surrounded by coiled serpent hosts.

Anupallavi : Praising the pure, radiant chest of Sadashiva, resplendent with the great serpent king Vasuki—a sight both awe-inspiring and capable of removing the dread of worldly existence—while fervently praying that Lord Chandrashekhara manifest clearly right before the devotee.

Charanam 1 : Visualizing the blue-hued throat of Neelakantha entwined with writhing snakes, his hands radiating divine grace as they hold the resonating damaru sounding "dhama-dhama", the mighty trident, and the deer, praying that he appear near to grant liberation.

Charanam 2 : Describing the dense, massive ascetic locks wherein venomous serpents crawl and inside which the goddess Ganga glides, pleading that the Lord dispel the devotee’s profound distress through the sight of his yogic nose and two eyes glistening with tender compassion for those who suffer.

Charanam 3 : A description of his ears bearing serpent earrings (kundalas) tuned to receiving dual hymns and holy names, the sacred bhasma marking his forehead, the blazing third eye of fire, and the splendid beauty of his head crowned by the radiant crescent moon, concluding with the earnest appeal to behold this form closely.

Mudram / Namavali : Chanting of the panchakshara mantra and holy names, paying reverent salutations directly to the presiding deity, Chandrashekharapurathappan.
