Meaning
Summary :       This traditional hymn of adoration is dedicated to Lord Shiva (venerated as Shiva Shankara, Girijapathi, and Paramavibhu). The composition celebrates His cosmic deeds and iconic divine attributes, recounting how He reduced the god of love, Kamadeva (Nalina Sharan), to ashes with the fire of His third eye and dispatched the demons of the three flying cities (Tripura) to the abode of Yama. The verses depict the Lord adorned with the crescent moon and hooded serpents in His matted hair, holding the sculptured deer and battle-axe, with His divine consort Goddess Parvati seated lovingly upon His left lap.

Pallavi : O Lord who burned into ashes the handsome sacred form of Kamadeva (the wielder of flower arrows) with the fiery glance of Your third eye, glory to You!

Anupallavi : O vanquisher of hell and the demon Naraka, glory to You; O protector of humanity, glory to You; O Lord and consort of Girija (Parvati), glory to You; O Shiva Shankara, glory to You!

Charanam-1 : O Supreme Lord who adorns His twisted matted locks with the crescent moon and wears hosts of hooded serpents as ornaments, glory to You; O vanquisher of hell, glory to You; O protector of humanity, glory to You; O consort of Girija, glory to You; O Shiva Shankara, glory to You!

Charanam-2 : O Lord who gracefully holds in His sacred hands the deer and the battle-axe, exquisite as sculpted works of art, glory to You; O vanquisher of hell, glory to You; O protector of humanity, glory to You; O consort of Girija, glory to You; O Shiva Shankara, glory to You!

Charanam-3 : O Lord who lovingly and beautifully seated Goddess Parvati upon His sacred left thigh, glory to You; O vanquisher of hell, glory to You; O protector of humanity, glory to You; O consort of Girija, glory to You; O Shiva Shankara, glory to You!

Charanam-4 : O Supreme Sovereign who completely consigned the demons of the three citadels (Tripurasuras) to the realm of death (Yamapuram), glory to You; O vanquisher of hell, glory to You; O protector of humanity, glory to You; O consort of Girija, glory to You; O Shiva Shankara, glory to You!
