Meaning
Summary :      This devotional hymn is dedicated to Lord Shiva (invoked as Shambho, Rudra, Chandrakaladhara, and Sadashiva) presiding gracefully upon the sacred hill at Thrichakukunnu (തൃച്ചകുകുന്ന്). The composition portrays His transcendental cosmic form—pure and white like clear crystal, adorned with serpents, elephant hide, sacred matted hair, and fragrant sandalwood paste, wielding the axe and deer. Extolled as the cosmic dancer whose feet are venerated by Brahma, Vishnu, Indra, and revered sages like Agastya and Gautama, the Lord is celebrated as the conqueror of death (Antaka) and Kamadeva, and the burner of Tripura. The hymn forms a rhythmic prayer of surrender to the Lord of Thrichakukunnu for liberation from the dread of worldly existence and the destruction of sins.

Pallavi : Salutations to Lord Shiva, O Shambho, salutations to Shiva; salutations to Shiva, Hara Hara Shiva Shiva, O cosmic dancer, destroyer of death and time (Kala), O fierce Rudra!

Anupallavi : O Lord whose sacred sandals and feet are revered and served by sages Agastya and Gautama, the conqueror of Antaka (Yama, the god of death), the bearer of the crescent moon; salutations to Lord Shiva, O Shambho, salutations to Shiva.

Charanam-1 : Adorned with serpent king Vasuki as an ornament, who rejected the deceptive Ketaki flower, draped in elephant hide (varana charma), wielding the battle-axe (parashu) and holding the deer; whose lotus feet are worshipped by Lord Keshava (Vishnu), Brahma, and Surendra (Indra), O supreme embodiment of absolute bliss; salutations to Lord Shiva, O Shambho.

Charanam-2 : O lotus-eyed Lord, liberator from the fear of earthly transmigration (bhava bhaya), vanquisher of Kamadeva (the wielder of five flower-arrows) and destroyer of sins; bearer of lofty, majestic matted locks, Lord of Goddess Gauri, whose divine body is fragrant with kumkum and sandalwood paste (kalabham); salutations to Lord Shiva, O Shambho.

Charanam-3 : O Lord Shankara who resides gracefully upon the sacred hill of Thrichakukunnu, destroyer of the three demon citadels (Tripura), prime origin and foundation of all existence; O embodiment of supreme consciousness and bliss (Satchidananda), who performs the cosmic Tandava, shining pure and white like radiant crystal, O sovereign Lord of the mountains, supreme Mahesha; salutations to Lord Shiva, O Shambho.
