Meaning
Summary :    This devotional hymn is dedicated to Lord Krishna (invoked as Nandanandana, Mukunda, Parthasarathy, and Indira Kanthan) residing in the sanctum of the sacred Guruvayur Temple (Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple). The verses celebrate His divine childhood exploits, particularly the effortless slaying of the demoness Putana, and His epic role as Parthasarathy steering Arjuna's chariot across the battlefield of Kurukshetra to relieve Mother Earth of tyrannical rulers. Concluding as a prayer for spiritual dawn within the mind, the hymn extols the Lord as the dispenser of worldly peace, inner strength, pure devotion, and ultimate liberation for detached seekers.

Pallavi : O Krishna, the beloved son of Nanda, the bestower of liberation (Mukunda), the exquisitely handsome Lord and eternal consort of Goddess Lakshmi (Indira)! Please arrive and dawn brightly within the inner sanctum of my mind and heart.

Charanam-1 : He who reclines peacefully upon the serpent couch (Ananta), whose eyes resemble blossoming lotus petals, the giver of salvation Mukunda; He shines radiantly and graciously within the holy abode of the Guruvayur temple, O Krishna!

Charanam-2 : Contemplating in her wicked mind the cruel slaughter of innocent infant children, the sinful demoness Putana came wandering; without the slightest hesitation or fear, the infant Lord suckled her poisoned breast, joyously slaying her and playfully frolicking upon her terrifying, felled chest, O Krishna!

Charanam-3 : To eliminate all the arrogant and deceitful Kauravas (the sons of Dhritarashtra), He mounted the battle chariot of Arjuna (Partha) as Parthasarathy, soaring across the battlefield of Kurukshetra, vanquishing wicked kings and relieving Mother Earth of her immense burden and torment, O Krishna!

Charanam-4 : To those who renounce worldly delusions, transcend bodily attachments, and dwell in deep spiritual meditation, He grants earthly well-being, transcendental celestial happiness, spiritual strength, unswerving devotion, and supreme liberation (mukti), O Krishna!
