Summary : This devotional hymn is an elaborate Keshadipada (head-to-toe) contemplation and royal darshan dedicated to Lord Vishnu in His manifestations as Lord Guruvayurappan (Lord Krishna), Ambalappuzha Kannan, and Lord Sri Rama during His sacred coronation darshan. It describes the Lord's peacock-feathered tresses, lotus eyes, Kaustubha jewel, flute, golden garments, and lotus feet before invoking the shrines of Guruvayur Temple and Ambalappuzha Sri Krishna Temple. The composition transitions into the celestial court of Sri Rama seated upon the gem-studded throne alongside Sita, His brothers, sage Vashistha, Hanuman, and Sugriva. Chanting the sacred Taraka Mahamantra (Hare Rama, Hare Krishna), the hymn serves as a universal supplication to remove all afflictions and darkness of the Kali Yuga through total surrender.
Charanam-1 : I bow before Your sacred crest adorned with a colorful peacock feather; I bow before the charming locks of hair waving gracefully over Your forehead; I bow before Your holy forehead beautified with the sacred tilak; and I fold my hands in adoration before Your curved eyebrows that dispel love's anguish through their intoxicating charm.
Charanam-2 : I bow before Your long, exquisite eyes resembling blooming lotus petals; I bow before Your sacred nose that surpasses the beauty of sesame blossoms; I fold my hands before Your lips bearing the natural hue of deep crimson; and I bow before the teeth that rival pearls nestled within their abode.
Charanam-3 : I bow before Your broad chest adorned with fresh garlands of sacred tulsi; I bow before the flower garlands and the divine imprint (Srivatsa) glowing on Your chest; I bow before Your right hand filled with pure fresh butter; and I bow before Your left hand holding the golden bamboo flute.
Charanam-4 : I fold my hands before Your countenance graced with a gentle, enchanting smile; I bow before Your sacred neck radiant with the forest garland (vanamala); I fold my hands before Your chest shimmering with the supreme Kaustubha jewel; and I bow before Your resplendent bosom.
Charanam-5 : I bow before Your sacred navel, the divine birthplace where the lotus-born Lord Brahma dwells; I, Your humble servant, fold my hands before Your arms glistening with golden bracelets; I bow before the unbroken luminous line of Your radiant nails; and I bow properly before Your two exquisite thighs.
Charanam-6 : I bow before Your waist adorned with chiming bells and the sacred waist-chain; I bow before the lower silk garment dyed in rich, unblemished turmeric yellow; and I bow before Your holy lotus feet, which are venerated in deep devotion by all devotees, celestial immortals, and stellar cosmic bodies.
Charanam-7 : To dispel all worldly sorrows and afflictions, I bow before the melody of Your lotus feet; I bow beholding Your divine form from crown to foot (keshadipada), and I bow beholding Your form from foot to crown (padadikesha), revering with great awe the beautiful Lord of Guruvayur.
Charanam-8 : I bow before the Lord who protects all His devotees; I praise and venerate You daily with deep devotion; I bow so that You shower Your grace and benevolence upon all beings, surrendering completely before Lord Kannan of Ambalappuzha.
Charanam-9 : I fold my hands before the royal throne sparkling with the brilliance of nine precious gems (navaratna); I bow before the shade of the white royal umbrella and the accompanying ceremonial emblems; I bow before Lord Rama, the crest-jewel of the Yadava/Raghu clan; and I bow before Mother Janaki (Sita) seated gracefully on Your left side.
Charanam-10 : I bow before Your noble brothers seated on either side; I bow before venerable preceptors headed by sage Vashistha; I bow before Lord Hanuman, the beloved son of Anjana; and I bow before the heroic warriors including Sugriva and Angada.
Charanam-11 : Praising Your divine form from head to toe, I fold my hands in reverent prostration; I bow before You, O Keshava, Madhava, and Raghava; and to dispel all sins and afflictions of the Kali Yuga, I fold my hands in devotion while chanting this supreme Mahamantra of the Kali age.
