Summary : This devotional hymn is an earnest plea of total surrender dedicated to Lord Shiva (Parameshwara) presiding gracefully over the sacred Pisharikavu Temple (Pisharikavu Sree Mahadeva / Bhagavathy Temple in Koyilandy, Kozhikode, Kerala). Addressing the Lord as the cosmic sovereign ruling all fourteen worlds, the song expresses the profound exhaustion of wandering through worldly life bound by endless mortal desires. The devotee prays for deliverance from the agony of rebirth and implores Shiva to stand by the soul when the dread emissaries of Yama approach, pleading for the Lord of Pisharikavu to forgive all unwitting human frailties and unite the soul forever with His holy feet.
Pallavi : Glory to Parameshwara! Refuge in Lord Shiva; please protect and preserve me eternally!
Anupallavi : O Sovereign Lord of all the fourteen worlds, singular Master and Lord of the universe, I take eternal refuge, refuge in You!
Charanam-1 : When I wander lost and deeply weary upon this earth, I reverently bow before Your tender sprout-like lotus feet so that You may graciously rescue and protect this helpless servant; refuge in Shiva, glory to Parameshwara, preserve me eternally!
Charanam-2 : When the terrifying emissaries of Yama (the god of death) arrive along with fearful portents to bind me, may Your holy presence come to dispel all the griefs and agonies of this blind, ignorant servant; reside ever beside me without parting, for I have had enough of taking repeated births upon this earth; refuge in Shiva, glory to Parameshwara, preserve me eternally!
Charanam-3 : Enough with this relentless cycle of birth and death for this humble devotee; graciously take me unto Your sacred feet with tender compassion! Having suffered intensely driven by manifold worldly cravings, please forgive all the transgressions I have unwittingly committed and grant protection, O Lord Shiva residing at Pisharikavu; refuge in Shiva, glory to Parameshwara, preserve me eternally!
