Summary : This hymn is about Goddess Karthyayani (a fierce yet deeply benevolent form of Mahamaya/Durga), the deity of Kumaranalloor Devi Temple The first half highlights the cosmic majesty of the Goddess—praising her moon-like beauty, her status as Shiva's beloved energy, her golden ornaments, and her deep resonance with the sacred sound vibrations of the Samaveda.
The second half transitions from her cosmic form to her localized presence as the ruling Mother of Kumaranalloor. Acknowledging her as the sovereign queen of the universe and the ultimate destroyer of mortal grief, the devotee surrenders completely, begging this pure, stainless Goddess (Niranjana) to swiftly cast her protective glance over their life.
(Sōmabimba manōharē jaya)
Glory to the One whose beautiful face is as enchanting (manohare) as the radiant orb of the full moon (somabimba)
(Sōmaśēkhara vallabhē jaya)
Glory to the beloved consort (vallabhe) of Lord Shiva, the one who wears the crescent moon in his hair (somashekhara).
(Sāmavēda nighūda vaibhavē)
Whose divine, grand power (vaibhave) is hidden within the esoteric, musical depths of the Samaveda.
(Hēmabhūshana bhūshitē jaya)
Glory to the Mother who is adorned (bhooshithe) with exquisite ornaments made of pure gold (hema)
ശോഭയേറും കുമാരനല്ലൂരില് (Śōbhayērum Kumāranallūr'il)
In the infinitely resplendent and glorious land of Kumaranalloor...
...Glory to the Supreme Goddess of the Universe (Jagannaayika) who reigns supreme and dwells there eternally.
ശോകഭഞ്ജന കാരണേ (Śōkabhañjana kāranē)
You, who are the primary cause for the complete shattering and removal of all sorrows (shoka-bhanjana)...
(Pari Pālayāśu Nirañjanē jaya)
...oh pure, unblemished Mother (Niranjana), protect me (paalaya) without any delay (aashu). Glory to You!
