Meaning
Summary :      This devotional Sopana hymn is an elaborate contemplation dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi (revered as Srividya, Maya Swaroopini, and Srichakra Vasini). The verses depict the Goddess's enchanting form adorned with crimson chethi blossoms, fragrant sandalwood paste, kohl-rimmed eyes, a radiant smile, pearl-like teeth, curly locks crowned by a crescent gem, and emerald-studded necklaces around Her conch-like neck. As the resonant rhythmic beats of the sacred Idakka drum accompany the singer prostrating upon the Sopana threshold, Her cosmic beauty enchants all the fourteen worlds and fills the devotee’s consciousness. The song culminates at the sacred threshold (Sreemoola nada) with heartfelt prostrations to the all-pervading Supreme Mother who abides within the Sri Chakra.

Charanam-1 : Adorned with the red ixora flower (thechippoo), a mark of sacred paste (chanthupottu), eyes beautified with dark kohl, a honey-sweet innocent smile, and the divine fragrance of sandalwood.

Charanam-2 : Possessing a nose delicate like a champaka blossom glowing with ruby splendor, and rows of pristine teeth resembling a garland of jasmine buds.

Charanam-3 : Having charming cheeks that shine with captivating grace, and displaying the sweet nectar of an enchanting gentle smile upon crimson lips.

Charanam-4 : Graced with curly locks interwoven with fragrant crimson roses, and adorned with a cat's-eye gem (vaidoorya) crest fashioned in the curve of the crescent moon.

Charanam-5 : Adorned with earrings gleaming like the fifth-day moon, possessing a full-moon countenance embodying the five subtle cosmic elements (pancha tanmatras).

Charanam-6 : Bearing a throat that resembles a fair, sacred conch, embellished with auspicious necklaces and pendants crafted of pure emeralds and brilliant diamonds.

Charanam-7 : O divine maiden with a moon-like face and sublime loveliness, You constantly fill my inner mind and consciousness as the very embodiment of pure awareness.

Charanam-8 : In the resonant melodies and sacred rhythmic notes rising from the idakka drum, that supreme beauty which enchants and delights all the fourteen worlds shines brightly.

Charanam-9 : As I prostrate upon the sacred sanctum steps (sopanam) and sing Your holy praise, my mind becomes thoroughly enchanted and immersed in the divine nectar of pure consciousness.

Samarppanam : O embodiment of Srividya and celestial Maya, O resident of the sacred Sri Chakra who captivates all three worlds, O radiant Goddess Kamakshi, standing before Your sacred root threshold (Sreemoola nada), I bow down in humble surrender; O Devi, O Devi!
