Summary : This verse beautifully captures the dual nature of Lord Shiva as both a fierce, detached ascetic and the loving, protective consort of Goddess Parvati (manifested here in the Uma-Maheshwara or Sankara-Parvati form). The poet describes His classic hermit attire: His body is smeared with sacred funeral ash, He wears necklaces made of bones and coiled serpents, and His throat bears the blue mark of the universe-saving poison. In His lotus hands, He holds contrasting objects—the sharp, destructive battle-axe and a soft, gentle deer. The final lines soften into a grand vision of grace, depicting Goddess Parvati seated elegantly upon His lap, before culminating in total surrender to His gem-anklet-adorned lotus feet.
