Summary : This devotional hymn is an earnest supplication dedicated to Lord Ganesha (revered as Gajamukha, Ambikanandana, Shivabaala, and Gananatha) residing at the celebrated Pazhavangadi Ganapathi Temple (Pazhavangadi Sree Maha Ganapathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala). The composition pleads with the elephant-faced Lord to touch the devotee’s head with His trunk to eradicate worldly sorrows and provide benevolent guidance. Celebrating well-known mythological exploits of Ganesha, it recalls His wisdom in declaring His parents to be the entire cosmos, His filial protective duty toward Mother Ambika, and His self-sacrifice in breaking His own tusk to serve as a scribe's quill. Depicting Him as the music-loving master of the Shiva Ganas who banishes terror from little ones, the hymn forms a heartfelt plea for perpetual divine shelter.
Pallavi : Please touch the crown of my head with Your auspicious divine trunk to banish all my sorrows and distress; O Lord Ganapathi residing at Pazhavangadi, please shower Your benevolence to be my constant support and guide.
Charanam-1 : O Lord Ganapathi who affirmed with deep conviction that parents (father and mother) are the entire universe; O beloved child of Lord Shiva, worshipped by offering sacred bael (koovalam) leaves from innocent, tender hands.
Charanam-2 : O young boy who stood as an unfailing guardian and companion to His Mother, O beloved son of Goddess Ambika, valiant and mighty Lord; O single-tusked (Ottakkomban), elephant-faced deity who broke His own tusk to fashion it into a writing quill.
Charanam-3 : O elephant-faced Lord, O revered Sri Gananatha who dispels deep-seated dread and fear from children; O supreme sovereign leader of the celestial hosts (Bhootaganas), lover of music and sweet melodies, O elephant-faced Lord!
