Meaning
Summary :    This classical Shaivite devotional hymn is dedicated to Lord Shiva (invoked as Sadashiva and Chandramouli), celebrating His sublime and awe-inspiring cosmic form. The composition portrays the Lord adorned with tawny matted locks, the celestial Ganga, the crescent moon, a fire-gleaming third eye, serpent ornaments, skull garlands, and a tiger-skin garment. It envisions Him surrounded in celestial splendor by Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Kartikeya, the Shiva Ganas, and immortal sages who gaze upon His divine presence in reverence. The hymn serves as an earnest salutation seeking perpetual surrender and proclaiming eternal glory to the moon-crowned Lord.

Shlokam: I bow down, I bow down, I perpetually bow down to Lord Sadashiva—the auspicious one, the bestower of all auspiciousness, the peaceful and tranquil, the supreme soul of goodness, the ultimate among the auspicious, and the guide who establishes the path of righteousness.

Pallavi: Adorned with high, tawny-golden matted locks bearing the crescent moon, the holy river Ganga, and serpents, with radiant and leaping flames flashing across His forehead, and possessing graceful, lovely cheeks; O Chandramouli, glory to You, O Lord who bears the moon upon His crest!

Charanam-1: Decorated with the king of serpents as ear-ornaments and garlands fashioned of skulls, holding the fierce battle-axe, the swift trident, and the skull bowl in His handsome serpent-entwined arms; O Chandramouli, glory to You, O Lord who bears the moon!

Charanam-2: Draped in tiger skin bound securely around His waist by a girdle of serpents, with His two divine feet charmingly adorned with resonant anklets formed of quivering, glistening serpents; O Chandramouli, glory to You, O Lord who bears the moon!

Charanam-3: Behold here in cosmic assembly the mountain King's daughter Parvati, Lord Ganesha, the celestial host of Ganas, Lord Kartikeya (slayer of Tarakasura), and the immortal sages and gods all gazing upon and attending to Him; O Chandramouli, glory to You, O Lord who bears the moon!
