Meaning
Summary :         This hymn is a beautiful description of Lord Shiva in his specific form as Uma-Maheshwara (Shiva seated alongside Goddess Parvati).

Pallavi: Focuses on the crown of Lord Shiva's head (Uthamaangam), which is beautifully adorned with the crescent moon (Ambili kala) and the divine River Ganges (Mani Ganga) that washes away all human miseries and spiritual thirst.

Anupallavi: Describes the serene divine couple; on the left side (Idathu bhaagam) of the Lord, Goddess Parvati, the daughter of the mountains (Parvatha Kumaari), sits with absolute joy and bliss.

Charanam 1: Recalls Shiva’s intense power. It describes His third eye (Vakshi) that spits fire, which instantly turned Kamadeva (the god of love who shoots arrows of flowers, Pushpasaayaka) into ashes with fierce anger when he disturbed the Lord's penance.

Charanam 2: Details the delicate beauty of His face—His elegantly curved eyebrows (Kunu chilliyum), His dynamic, deep eyes (Neela lola nayanangalum), and His beautiful, perfectly shaped nose that resembles a sesame flower (Thilasoona).

Charanam 3: Praises the glowing cheeks that shine like the young moon, adorned with dangling, brilliant gem-studded earrings (Manikundalo). It also highlights the gentle, sweet smile blooming across His radiant, lotus-like face.

Charanam 4: Describes His smooth, divine neck draped with a garland of serpents (Bhujaga maala). He is also adorned with a striking garland of skulls (Kapaala maala), giving His holy form an intimidating yet beautifully protective and reassuring aura.

Charanam 5: The poet prays that the lotus feet (Paadhaabjam) of Shiva, which are reverently worshipped by realized sages and ascetics (Siddha muni vrindha), may forever reside inside their heart. The verse concludes with a deep plea to constantly envision this entire, liberation-granting form of Lord Maheshwara.
